Tim Sherwood says 24-year-old Arsenal player needs to ‘pull his finger out’ and change his attitude

Pundit Tim Sherwood has now launched some rather surprising criticism of Kai Havertz after his winner for Arsenal at Brentford.

Sherwood was speaking on ‘The Kelly and Wrighty Show’ and questioned Havertz’s attitude and application of late.

And although he’s entitled to his opinion, the timing of the comments do seem rather baffling given Havertz appears to have just been rewarded for his perseverance during a difficult period.

Either way, Sherwood shared his thoughts: “I think he realises, I honestly believe he’s never going to go to a bigger club than what he’s at [Arsenal].

“Not from here, I don’t care, he’s not going to go to Bayern Munich in my opinion, he’s not going to go over there.

“He’s at one of the biggest clubs he’s ever going to play for, he needs to pull his finger out, he needs to start showing it.“

Of course, many will protest that he is now showing that desire and fight for his side, especially given how determined he looked coming off the bench.

Havertz has had to endure a lot of criticism at Arsenal, and these comments are likely just fuel for the fire.

Tim Sherwood isn’t happy with Kai Havertz’s attitude at Arsenal

With Havertz undoubtedly having his best moment in an Arsenal shirt yet on Saturday, Mikel Arteta also deserves credit.

The Spaniard has been unwavering in his faith towards the German, a player with a very unique skill set.

And that uniqueness still seems to be at the core of how polarising the midfielder has proved in North London so far.

But either way, it does seem as if he will prove a strong acquisition in time – something he hasn’t enjoyed much of from some pundits.

It seems as if the likes of Sherwood are very set in their opinion of Havertz at Arsenal, one that has probably been formed too soon.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom, Micah Richards has now been celebrating one Arsenal player who he believes can become one of the best in the world.

And given his age, that will certainly bode well.

Although it hasn’t quite clicked for Arsenal this season, much like Havertz at times, it bodes very well that the club are still sat top of the league.

And if things do become more fluid, silverware could be on the horizon.
