Newcastle now monitoring ‘brilliant’ top-flight winger even though he’s just agreed new contract

Newcastle United are planning to continue to monitor Ross McCausland despite the Rangers winger agreeing to sign a new contract at Ibrox.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, which notes that Everton are amongst the other Premier League sides interested in the 20-year-old.

Ross McCausland has been one of the real success stories of the early stages of Philippe Clement’s tenure with Rangers. He has been involved in every Scottish Premiership game since Clement was appointed at Ibrox earlier this season.

Newcastle to continue monitoring Ross McCausland

Recent reports from Tuttomercatoweb claimed that both Roma and Atalanta were interested in McCausland. The Serie A pair were hoping that they could make a move because his contract was set to expire at the end of the season.

It appears however, that any side keen on McCausland is set for disappointment – right now, anyway – with TEAMtalk reporting that Rangers have now agreed terms with the youngster over a contract extension.

But his admirers are not ready to move him off their radar. TEAMtalk reports that the likes of Newcastle, Everton, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Brentford plan to continue monitoring McCausland.

Rangers youngster right to stay put for now

Newcastle have done some really smart business in the last couple of years. And they have brought in some really exciting young players who look to have incredibly bright futures.

So it should come as little surprise that the Magpies are interested in the ‘brilliant‘ Rangers youngster.

But McCausland is surely making the right decision for him right now. Clement has shown that he is in his plans with the Gers. And you would imagine that those minutes will ramp up over the coming months.

If his development continues at a rapid rate, there are going to be chances to move to the Premier League in the future.

And Newcastle may be one of those who make a move.
