Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski has said he expects to see more and more of Giovani Lo Celso after this weekend’s game with Aston Villa.
Lo Celso was thrust back into the action as Tottenham try and put up with a crippling injury list. The Argentinian midfielder played in the middle with the likes of Yves Bissouma, James Maddison and Pape Sarr all missing.
The £42m signing got himself a goal as well, firing in a deflected effort from the edge of the box.
Despite losing the game, Lo Celso played well to say he’s had a lack of minutes in the last 12 months and speaking to Football.London, teammate Kulusevski admitted he expects Ange Postecoglou to pick him more now.
Kulusevski wants Giovani Lo Celso to play more for Tottenham
Speaking about the midfielder, Kulusevski was full of praise for Lo Celso.
“[Lo] Celso was so good and he’s going to help us. He showed today what kind of player he is and I expect him to play a lot more now,” Kulusevski said.
Big opportunity to prove the doubters wrong
A few of these Tottenham players might have thought their time at the club was up but it does seem some are now getting a chance.
Lo Celso is one of these players and it’s crucial for him that he takes it. With so many injuries and suspensions, Lo Celso is never going to get a better chance to show he can contribute.
He did well against Villa in the main but will want to do more and be on the winning side as well.
At the moment, Tottenham are losing games and all that does is strengthen the case for Postecoglou to bring all these injured players back in as soon as they’re ok.
Lo Celso’s job, then, is to give his manager a tough decision to make.
