Brennan Johnson is reportedly pushing to start over Richarlison for Tottenham Hotspur against Chelsea on Monday evening.
That’s according to The Standard, with the outlet claiming that Johnson could be handed his second start in a Tottenham shirt.
Johnson has started just one game since making the move to North London from Nottingham Forest on deadline day over the summer.
The 22-year-old impressed on his full debut against Arsenal back in September but picked up a hamstring injury in the process.
Richarlison has taken his place in the side ever since and the 26-year-old has put in some promising performances off the left-hand side.
But Johnson enjoyed a bright cameo in the 2-1 win at Crystal Palace last time out as he provided a brilliant assist for Son Heung-Min’s goal.
Now, it seems he could be in line to start against Chelsea tomorrow evening.

Johnson pushing to start over Richarlison
The Standard reports that Johnson is ‘pushing to start’ over Richarlison tomorrow after his display at Selhurst Park.

The Welshman has been labelled a ‘fantastic’ player by former boss Steve Cooper but he’s yet to nail down his place in Ange Postecoglou’ side.
Of course, that is largely down to the injury he picked up in the North London Derby, which ultimately hampered his early progress.
And despite Richarlison’s fairly promising form since moving out wide, Johnson seems like the ideal player to cause Chelsea problems.
Indeed, the forward boasts explosive pace and given Chelsea’s preference to play a high line, he could help to expose this.
It’s set to a fiery clash tomorrow as Mauricio Pochettino returns to Tottenham for the first time since being sacked back in 2019.
