Ange Postecoglou says £40m Tottenham player will now be out injured until 2024

Ange Postecoglou has been giving an update on James Maddison and confirmed bad news for Tottenham fans.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of this weekend’s clash with Wolves, Postecoglou confirmed the bad news on Maddison’s injury.

In quotes taken from Football London, the Spurs boss confirmed the following when it comes to the £40m midfielder.

“Madders a lot worse than we first thought. Was bad the next day. Again into the New Year with him,” Postecoglou said.

Maddison has pulled out of the England squad after initially thinking there’d be no problems with the ankle injury he sustained.

However, it seems like he has suffered a reoccurrence of a past problem and will now be missing until the New Year at the very earliest.

It’s a huge blow for Tottenham and Big Ange in what has proven to be an absolute nightmare game against Chelsea for the North Londoners.

Maddison injury a nightmare for Tottenham

This just shows how quickly things can change in football. Tottenham were flying but after just one game where a lot happened, are now four players down.

Romero is suspended with Udogie, and now Maddison joins Micky van de Ven in being out for a few months at least.

This could genuinely derail Spurs’ season and it will be interesting to see if they can bounce back from this.

Maddison’s injury blow here is a huge issue for the club. They don’t really have someone who can step into the picture for him either and Ange might have to come up with a new system.

After looking like title contenders, it now looks like Tottenham will be happy to get to January simply still in contention for the top four.
