Tottenham eyeing ‘incredible’ £25m forward who’d be perfect for Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur really could do with bolstering their attacking ranks in the January transfer window, particularly on the left-hand side.

Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon are both on the sidelines, so the Spurs left flank is somewhat light at present. Richarlison is also injured.

Over the past few weeks, there has been speculation linking Tottenham with Jota, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.

However, one report has also been doing the rounds suggesting Ange Postecoglou is still mulling over whether Jota would be right for the Premier League.

This report, from The Scottish Sun, claimed that Jota wants to link up with Spurs, but his former manager is having some doubts.

We feel Tottenham will end up making an approach for the 24-year-old, and we also reckon he’d be a good shout for Spurs and the Premier League.

Tottenham should take a chance on ‘difference-maker’ Jota

Jota has struggled in Saudi Arabia since his £25million move as he has been unable to get much game time due to a rule surrounding how many foreign players can play at one time.

If any manager can get a struggling player firing on all cylinders, it’s Ange Postecoglou.

Not only that, but Jota knows the Tottenham manager well, having worked with him at Celtic, and knows the Angeball system inside out.

Postecoglou himself previously deemed Jota “incredible”, while Barry Ferguson described him as a “difference-maker“.

At 24 years of age, he’s yet to reach his prime, but still boasts plenty of experience at a high level.

Jota was a cut above at Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, and he also did well in European competition.

He grabbed two goals and two assists in five Europa League outings in 2021-22, and two goals from four Champions League outings in 2022-23.

Jota is also fast, tricky, versatile and knows where the back of the net is. And he managed alright in Scotland, which is a pretty physical league.

If he were to join on loan, there would be even less of a risk for Tottenham. They might as well give it a go, as they’d have little to lose and much to gain.
