‘Got to do more’…BBC pundit slates 30-year-old Tottenham player against Aston Villa

Tottenham were involved in another exciting Premier League encounter today, this time against high-flying Aston Villa.

Spurs are riddled with injuries but got off to the ideal start in the game as Giovani Lo Celso fired in from the edge of the box via a deflection.

However, Villa grew into the game and went 2-1 up thanks to goals from Pau Torres and then Ollie Watkins. Unai Emery’s side once again showing they are the real deal when it comes to battling for a top four place.

Ben Davies misses glorious chance for Tottenham v Villa

At 2-1 down, Tottenham did have the chances to get back into the game and simply couldn’t be clinical enough. One of those big chances fell to defender Ben Davies, who nodded over from a fine chance inside the area.

And watching on for the BBC, Clinton Morrison felt the Spurs man should have done so much better.

“He’s got to do more. Once you get up there Ben Davies you’ve got to hit the target, it’s a great opportunity,” Morrison said.

Of all the people for chances to drop to

Ben Davies was not the man Spurs wanted a big chance to drop to in this game and it just so happened he was the man in position with this one.

In fairness to Davies, though, Tottenham’s other players had more than enough chances in the game to put things out of sight, well before Villa even got in front.

Heung-Min Son missed a few big ones while Brennan Johnson failed to capitalise on a number of good openings as well.

Once again, despite an attacking performance full of endeavour and intent, Tottenham came up short and it’s now three games without getting three points.

Ange Postecoglou will be happy with his team in the main but they need to be winning games, even if they do have a raft of injury issues.
