Eddie Howe now makes prediction about Manchester United ahead of tomorrow’s League Cup clash

Eddie Howe has admitted that he expects Erik ten Hag to rotate his Manchester United side for tomorrow’s League Cup clash.

Howe has been speaking to the media as he prepares his side for a trip to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

Manchester United are coming off the back of a 3-0 Manchester Derby defeat on Sunday and it’s fair to say that Erik ten Hag is under increased pressure.

The Red Devils have been way below their best so far this season and currently find themselves 12 points off league leaders Tottenham.

As for Newcastle United, Howe has enjoyed a mixed start to the campaign but will be looking to exact revenge on United tomorrow after the League Cup final defeat at Wembley in February.

And the Magpies boss is expecting Ten Hag to make several changes after a crushing defeat to Manchester City at Old Trafford over the weekend.

Eddie Howe makes Manchester United prediction ahead of League Cup clash

In a video posted on Newcastle’s official YouTube channel, Howe discussed Ten Hag’s possible team selection ahead of tomorrow’s clash.

“Look, Manchester United are a top team with top players,” the Newcastle boss said. “They will no doubt, possibly, rotate their squad and their players.

“That may be unclear until we get the team sheet. But I think one of the key tests of any team is how you respond to set backs, we had one against Borussia Dortmund recently, I thought it was a good one in a really good game against Wolves.

“That’s what you’re always looking to do in the manager’s position.”

It certainly wouldn’t come as a surprise to see Ten Hag make some changes tomorrow after a lacklustre display on Sunday.

United struggled against the reigning Premier League champions and the Dutchman received plenty of criticism over his team selection.

A win for the Red Devils would help to relieve some of the pressure on Ten Hag. But Newcastle will be up for the occasion after the defeat at Wembley earlier this year.
