Joe Willock names the Newcastle United midfielder who was ‘top class’ v Chelsea

Newcastle United midfielder Joe Willock has praised Lewis Miley for his performance against Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea.

Eddie Howe’s side beat Chelsea 4-1 at St. James’ Park.

So, what has Joe Willock said about his Newcastle United teammate Lewis Miley? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, Newcastle United hammered Chelsea 4-1 at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday.

Chelsea ended the game with 10 men. Newcastle were the better side and deservedly picked up all three points from the match.

Lewis Miley started the match for the Magpies. The 17-year-old midfielder provided an assist.

As you can see below, Newcastle midfielder Joe Willock was impressed with the teenager. Former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has also praised him.

Miley started on the right of a midfield-three for Newcastle. The England Under-19 international played until the third minute of injury time when he was substituted.

The midfielder took one shot which was not on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 86.2%, won one header, and took 38 touches.

Lewis Miley a future Newcastle United star

In my opinion, Lewis Miley is a player for the future of Newcastle United. I do not think that there should be undue pressure on him now.

Yes, Miley did well against Chelsea, but I have to stress that he is only 17. The teenager is just starting his career.

Fans are quick to get carried away with young and promising players.

Newcastle supporters should be excited about Miley, but at the same time, they need to be realistic and must not expect too much of him too soon.

The Magpies are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table and are also looking to progress to the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League.
