Alan Shearer left applauding after watching 26-year-old Newcastle player vs Chelsea yesterday

Alan Shearer was left applauding after watching Bruno Guimaraes’ display for Newcastle United against Chelsea yesterday.

Newcastle picked up an emphatic 4-1 win over the Blues on Saturday after a brilliant performance at St James’ Park.

Chelsea headed into the game full of confidence off the back of some promising results of late, including a win at Tottenham and a thrilling draw at home to Manchester City.

Alexander Isak opened the scoring inside the opening 15 minutes before Raheem Sterling quickly levelled things up. But a quickfire double for the Magpies on the hour mark put them in a commanding position before Anthony Gordon rounded the win off with an exceptional finish in the 83rd minute.

Bruno Guimaraes put in yet another commanding display in the middle of the park and Alan Shearer applauded the Brazilian on Instagram after the game.

Shearer amazed by Guimaraes display

Guimaraes took to the social media platform after yesterday’s game and expressed his delight after picking up three points.

He wrote: “Living this club intensely! Great victory and hunger for more.”

His Brazil teammate and Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior left a few emojis beneath the post.

And Shearer replied with three round of applause emojis.

Guimaraes has been exceptional for the Magpies ever since joining from Lyon for a fee worth £40 million back in January last year.

The 26-year-old has attracted interest from a host of top sides of late, including the likes of Barcelona.

It’s easy to understand why Guimaraes is turning heads but he seems more than settled in Tyneside at the moment.

Newcastle needed to bounce back yesterday after a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth before the international break.

Eddie Howe will undoubtedly be delighted with the display and they face a massive trip to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday.
