‘Having spoken to him’… Journalist is absolutely certain that Brendan Rodgers will be backed by Celtic in January

Celtic’s transfer business continues to be the talk of the town this week after Europe after Christmas became a pipedream on Tuesday night.

Brendan Rodgers himself has admitted that he is looking to add new players to his team when the January transfer window opens and journalist, Craig Swan, is of no doubt that is exactly what is going to happen.

Swan said [The Record Celtic Podcast], “I don’t think there’s any doubt that Brendan Rodgers will be backed. I’m convinced of that. Celtic have money in the bank.

“Whether it’s exactly the ones that Brendan Rodgers wants and be available in January as sometimes January can be a tricky market. But I do think he’ll be backed. I have no doubt about that.

“I’m 100% sure having listened to Brendan Rodgers and having spoken to him that he knows that the team will need to be built for that [next season’s Champions League] and to get ready in time and he’ll have his targets.

“And I’m sure he’ll be backed.”

TBR Celtic spoke earlier today about how Mark Guidi believes Celtic could go and spend £15m in January if they wanted to.

And with a second journalist now talking about Rodgers adding new players, it could be that the Celtic fans will have an interesting January window when it opens up in less than four weeks time.

Just how many players Rodgers will add is another question that the Celtic fans will have. I firmly believe that he needs at least five but to do that, the Hoops gaffer will also need to get many more out the door.

Rodgers has previously said that he needs to trim his squad in the upcoming January window. So the Celtic boss is going to be extremely busy over the festive period as he looks to strengthen his push for the league title.

In other news, £35m player linked to Celtic in the summer is to leave his club in January
