Anthony Joseph confirms Celtic’s contract stance on ‘fantastic’ 18-year-old player

The Rocco Vata Celtic story continues this weekend as the young winger finds himself linked to various clubs this season.

TBR Celtic told earlier this week how young Vata was being watched by Inter Milan as he impressed during Celtic Youth’s 2-0 win over Lazio in the Champions League.

The youngster is said to be frustrated at lack of first team action at Celtic and with his contract running down at the end of the season, Vata will be free to speak to clubs in January if the club don’t get him tied down on a new deal.

With his undoubted talent, the ‘fantastic‘ 18-year-old winger should, by now, at least have had an offer from Celtic but according to Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph, it seems that the club haven’t yet approached the Republic of Ireland u21 international.

Taking to social media channel X, Joseph said, “Sampdoria have expressed an interest in Celtic forward Rocco Vata.

“Vata’s current deal expires in the summer & Celtic will be due around £343,000 in compensation if he signs a pre-contract next month.

“It’s understood, Celtic have made no official contract offer to Vata.”

For a player who is so highly rated and clearly sought after, it’s quite unbelievable to think that Celtic haven’t even even went as far to make an offer to Rocco Vata.

Scoring goals for fun in the Celtic B team and the current first team clearly having issues trying to create chances, Vata would give Celtic some much needed freshness and penetration until the likes of Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda return from injury.

However, despite bieng heavily involved in Celtic’s pre-seaon tour of Japan, Vata is still nowhere to be seen when it comes to official domestic duty.

Brendan Rodgers set Vata a challenge at the beginning of the season and it seems that with his lack of first team minutes, the youngster is not living up to it.

I am sure this saga will continue until such times as Vata either moves on or does commit his future to the club. I sincerely hope it’s the latter and the Celtic fans get to see for themselves if they really have a player on their hands.
