‘No doubt’… Jamie Carragher now shares his immediate reaction after seeing Everton deducted points today

Everton have finally learned their fate after a lengthy process with the Premier League’s investigation into potential FFP breaches.

The Toffees have been docked 10 points in the Premier League, and, all of a sudden, they’re back in the relegation fight.

Sean Dyche’s side had been doing brilliantly up until this point, but now, a lot of their hard work has been undone.

As you can imagine, the footballing world has been stunned by this news, and Jamie Carragher, as ever has had plenty to say on this matter.

Carragher may be a Liverpool legend, but he famously grew up an Evertonian and still has a soft spot for the Merseyside club.

Reacting on social media, Carragher hit out at the decision to dock Everton points, drawing comparisons to the breakaway Super League and claiming that relegated clubs will have had a part to play in this.

It has to be said that Carragher has a point here.

A 10 point deduction is one of the strictest punishments the Premier League has ever given out, and this is far from the worst thing a Premier League club has ever done.

The top six all tried to form a Super League without any punishment, West Ham fielded an ineligible player in the shape of Carlos Tevez and stayed up back in 2007, while many other clubs have breached FFP and only been slapped with a fine.

Everton have been treated harshly here, and while rules have been broken, you do have to question whether or not the punishment is actually befitting of the crime.

Everton are appealing, and we’re sure these situations will be discussed during that process as.

Make no mistake about it, we haven’t heard the last of this story, not by a long shot.
