Dion Dublin has suggested Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-Min would start for Manchester City.
Speaking on Optus Sport, the pundit claimed the Tottenham star would start for any of the top four sides in the Premier League.
Son Heung-Min cut a frustrated figure on Sunday afternoon as Spurs fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Aston Villa. The 31-year-old had the ball in the back of the net on three occasions but was marginally ruled offside each time.
Tottenham paid the price for being wasteful in front of goal as they rattled the woodwork twice and missed several glaring opportunities.
Son has stepped up as Spurs’ talisman since Harry Kane’s departure and continues to lead the line under Ange Postecoglou.
The South Korean forward is without a goal in his last three appearances but has netted eight times in the league this season.
And Dublin feels the ‘amazing’ Son would start for any top side in the Premier League.
Dublin suggests Son would start for City
Speaking on The Weekend Wrap, Dublin reflected on a frustrating afternoon for Son against Villa on Sunday.
“He makes great runs, Son,” the pundit said. “He does everything he possibly can to make sure he hits the target – chooses the right finish at the right time.”
He added: “He could play for any of the teams in the top three or four, start. Quite easily.”
Of course, Man City currently have Erling Haaland leading the line and as good as Son is, it would be difficult to see him playing over the Norwegian under Pep Guardiola.
Son has mainly operated off the left-hand side during his spell at Tottenham and while Jeremy Doku has impressed since his summer arrival, you would surely take Son over the Belgian at this stage.
Nevertheless, Son seems to be more effective while playing through the middle as he struggled out wide in the opening two games of the season.
Spurs will be hoping their skipper rediscovers his scoring touch just in time for the trip to Manchester this Sunday.
Postecoglou’s men are coming off the back of three consecutive defeats and face arguably their sternest test of the campaign against City.
