Jermaine Jenas believes Son Heung-min proved that Tottenham Hotspur do miss Harry Kane with one first-half incident against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Jenas was speaking on Match of the Day 2 as he suggested that the Spurs captain ducked out of heading home a Bryan Gil cross amid concerns he was about to be clattered by Emi Martinez.
Spurs suffered their third loss in a row on Sunday. But the result could have been so different, with Ange Postecoglou’s side creating a raft of chances and taking the lead through Giovani Lo Celso.
Jermaine Jenas criticises Son Heung-min after Tottenham loss
On another day, Tottenham could have scored several times. And one of the opportunities they passed up fell to Son Heung-min.
Bryan Gil played a glorious first-time cross in towards the six yard box that Martinez decided to not come for.
The £22 million star however, was unable to get his head on the cross. On initial viewing, it appeared that Gil had agonisingly put a little too much on the ball in. However, Jermaine Jenas suggested that Son could, and should, have actually done a lot better.
“A lot of people have been talking about do you miss Harry Kane this year? And saying no because of the amount of goals Son scores. That wouldn’t have been missed. He ducks out of that, Son, because he thinks he’s going to get hit by Martinez,” he told Match of the Day 2.

Criticism seems a little unfair
It is hard to be too critical of Son. The South Korean has been in sensational form this season, scoring eight times already.
Son is also relishing the role of being the new captain of the club. So it is potentially a little harsh to suggest that he did not fancy putting in the extra effort to head home the chance. Perhaps he simply mistimed his jump.
Son definitely has that ruthless edge in front of goal. So it does seem a little harsh to suggest that Martinez smashing into him was in the back of Son’s mind in that split second.
