Joao Palhinha lauds 24-year-old Tottenham star on Instagram after win last night

Fulham star Joao Palhinha has sent a message to Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro after their clash in North London last night.

Porro took to social media after the match and celebrated Spurs returning to the top of the Premier League.

It was another very impressive performance from Ange Postecoglou’s side under the lights at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs pounced on a pair of mistakes at the back from Calvin Bassey to confirm a comfortable 2-0 win over their London rivals.

One of the biggest worries going into the game for Tottenham would have been the midfield battle.

They were lining up without Yves Bissouma following his sending off against Luton Town.

Fulham’s star man is undoubtedly Joao Palhinha and without the Malian international to challenge him, he could have had a real impact on the match.

He nearly scored from a corner too but Spurs did a phenomenal job closing him down at every opportunity, limiting him to long-range passes that were typically dealt with quite easily.

Pedro Porro and Palhinha have since been messaging after Tottenham’s victory given their previous relationship.

The pair played together at Sporting CP and are now smashing it in the Premier League.

On this occasion, the 24-year-old defender got the better of his old teammate.

Palhinha sends Porro message after Tottenham win

After the match, Porro posted a video of the two players embracing in the tunnel with the message ‘Hermano’, meaning ‘brother’.

In response, Palhinha reshared the clip alongside the caption, ‘Good to see you back’ after their time spent together in Portugal.

There would have been worries over whether Porro could adapt to life under Ange Postecoglou given he was signed specifically for Antonio Conte.

However, he’s admitted he’s loving life under the Australian coach and he’s thriving in his new role.

Palhinha looks a level above his Fulham teammates right now and had too much to do against Porro and Tottenham to make any real impact.

It would have been a very different game if Raul Jimenez or Harry Wilson could have converted their late chances.

But that sums up Marco Silva’s side’s fortunes this year and Spurs will be very grateful they didn’t make them pay for missing plenty of chances of their own throughout the match.
