Pundit says Liverpool have a truly ‘magnificent’ 24-year-old who’s so ‘brave’

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has been praised by Anfield pundit Neil Mellor.

Speaking on the Review Show, Mellor says the 24-year-old Reds ace is a “magnificent” and “brave” talent.

Mac Allister joined Liverpool this summer for a reported £35million fee, potentially rising to £55million.

The 24-year-old has done very well at Anfield so far, starting in each of the Reds’ Premier League games to date.

Mac Allister has been playing at No. 6 for Liverpool, which isn’t his main position, but he has been impressing nonetheless.

For instance, the Argentina international was regularly weighing in with good tackles in the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

As well as that, the Liverpool ace was great at reading the game, passing the ball and overall keeping things ticking over.

“Alexis clocked the most distance for Liverpool during the game and he is a very clever player but a very brave player as well,” Mellor said on the Review Show, as per the Liverpool website.

“You need players like that, can stop a counter-attack and then want to make that pass in between the lines, and his influence out there was clear to see, he was magnificent.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has struck gold when it came to signing Mac Allister. He has been superb for the Reds, even in an unfamiliar position.

While it looks like he can stay at No. 6 long-term, it would still be exciting to see how Mac Allister fares if he moves further up. For instance, if Liverpool go and sign a new defensive midfielder.

All in all, the Reds have done well in the transfer market this summer when overhauling their midfield. This came in testing circumstances too, with two key midfielders unexpectedly leaving.

Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo have all done very well. It’ll be exciting to see how they – and the rest of the Liverpool team – continues to fare.
