‘Really entertaining’: John McGinn now makes claim about Tottenham after facing them yesterday

Aston Villa captain John McGinn has made a claim about Tottenham Hotspur after facing them on Sunday afternoon.

Ange Postecoglou’s men fell to a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa yesterday, despite dominating for large periods of the game.

Tottenham were made to rue their missed chances on the day after taking the lead through Giovani Lo Celso in the 22nd minute.

Indeed, Spurs had the ball in the back of the net three times through Son Heung-Min. But each effort was ruled out due to offside.

Both Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski also rattled the woodwork during the game. And it’s fair to say that Villa rode their luck at times.

Yet, the Villains proved to be the more clinical of the two sides on the day and did put in an improved display in the second half.

And John McGinn has reflected on the win over Tottenham yesterday, claiming Postecoglou’s side will always be a good watch.

Speaking to Viaplay, McGinn admitted that he thought yesterday’s game was ‘hectic’ but entertaining for neutrals.

“I think anyone who is going to come and watch a Tottenham match this season is going to be entertained,” he said.

“For the neutral, it was really entertaining, but hopefully, we don’t have games like that every week! It was a little bit hectic.”

Spurs put in a brilliant performance yesterday considering they have several key players missing.

The likes of Micky van de Ven, Pape Matar Sarr, James Maddison and Richarlison are all sidelined with injuries.

Cristian Romero and Yves Bissouma also missed out due to suspension. But Spurs still managed to cause Villa huge problems and were unfortunate not to get a result on the day.

Postecoglou will undoubtedly be disappointed with the result but he can take plenty of encouragement from the performance.
