‘Like he’d been on a ten-day cruise’… TalkSPORT pundit slams Liverpool player after Man City draw

Dean Saunders was left unimpressed with Alisson Becker’s display for Liverpool against Manchester City.

The pundit has been speaking on talkSPORT (26/11 6:30 am) and claimed Alisson played like he’d been ‘on a ten-day cruise’ during the international break.

Liverpool picked up a well-earned draw against the Premier League champions yesterday thanks to a late equaliser from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It wasn’t exactly a vintage Liverpool performance as they were forced to dig deep for large chunks of the game.

Jurgen Klopp’s men rode their luck at times but Trent produced an exceptional finish to earn a point at the Etihad.

But it’s fair to say that Alisson wasn’t at his best between the sticks for the Reds. The 31-year-old made a couple of exceptional saves, particularly the stop that denied Phil Foden in the first half.

Yet, his miskick led to Erling Haaland’s opener in the first half and he endured some shaky moments on the ball.

And Dean Saunders was left unimpressed with the Brazil international.

Saunders slams Alisson after City vs Liverpool clash

Speaking on talkSPORT this morning, Saunders suggested Alisson’s unconvincing display was down to the international break.

“You should have seen Alisson [Becker] yesterday,” the pundit said. “He looked like he’d been on a ten-day cruise not on international duty.

“Honestly, he’s a world-class goalkeeper but he made four assists for goals for Man City playing out from the back.

“But whose fault is it? Is it the manager or is it the goalkeeper?”

Alisson is undoubtedly up there with the best goalkeepers in the world and has been exceptional for Liverpool this season.

Despite a slightly shaky display, he still pulled out some brilliant stops on the day to help Liverpool earn a draw.

After featuring for Brazil against Argentina just three days before yesterday’s game, that could explain why Alisson was slightly off the pace between the sticks yesterday.
