Liverpool and Fulham played out an entertaining encounter at Anfield today one another busy afternoon of Premier League football.
The Reds were very much looking to keep up their excellent form and Jurgen Klopp went all out with with the exciting front three of Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.
However, while the trio was what most Liverpool fans want to see, the performance of Darwin Nunez – especially in the first half – left a lot to be desired.
The Uruguayan has been inconsistent if not brilliant at times this season. And watching him against Fulham today for the BBC, former Red Stephen Warnock felt Nunez was really struggling.

Commenting on Nunez’s impact in the first 45 minutes, Warnock felt Nunez should have been taken off for another Liverpool forward.
“I think if Jurgen Klopp was going to make changes at half time it would have been up top, Gakpo for Nunez. Nunez has really struggled to get into the game this afternoon. When he faces low blocks and teams sit in he finds it difficult to find space, you see the best of him against high defensive lines,” Warnock said.

This was a game that just about summed up how everyone in football feels about Darwin Nunez.

At times he can look unplayable and come across like the most lethal striker in Europe. At other times, he simply looks way off the pace and almost suggests Liverpool need someone else.
Today was one of his bad days and as Warnock says, there was a lot to be said for how Nunez struggled against a defence allowing him little to no space.
Nunez will keep going and keep putting the shifts in. But he has to be more consistent with his game and days like today show it.
