Tottenham star now spotted leaving the stadium on crutches after Chelsea game

Following his hamstring injury against Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven was seen making his departure on crutches last night.

Van de Ven pulled up injured at the latter end of a crazy first half, and looked in a ton of pain whilst holding his hamstring.

And Tottenham fans far and wide will now be praying that van de Ven escapes a serious injury.

Journalist George Sessions took to X to explain what he had seen in the mixed zone after the game, confirming that van de Ven was on crutches.

He said: “No surprise but Micky van de Ven limps through the mixed zone on crutches.

“The loss of VDV for the foreseeable future coupled with Romero’s incoming three-match ban a lasting blow from tonight.”

It would seem very unlikely that the Dutch defender will be back in the short-term, and Ange Postecoglou will therefore have to build an almost entirely new back line.

Cristian Romero will now be suspended for a run of games, and Destiny Udogie will also miss a game as well.

Depending on the fitness of Ben Davies, Postecoglou may have to turn to Ashley Phillips, who is yet to make his debut for the senior side.

Moreover, Alfie Dorrington is another name that may now be needed on the Spurs bench.

Tottenham’s thin squad was always going to be a worry, and an issue for van de Ven could prove incredibly disruptive.

Nonetheless, the character that the likes of Eric Dier showed for their side last night does now bode very well.

Spurs have already faced some tough tests under Postecoglou, but the next few weeks will be a new mission entirely.

Eric Dier will now have to lead the back line, proving why it may not be the best timing for him to leave in January.

And the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, who was outstanding last night, will now have to step up as a leader too.

Many Tottenham players stood big after the dismissals and injury to van de Ven, and they will now need to harness this siege spirit in the weeks to come.
