Glenn Hoddle says Tottenham now have a 22-year-old youngster who’s ‘got everything’

Glenn Hoddle has singled out Tottenham Hotspur youngster Micky van de Ven for praise and believes the defender has ‘got everything’.

Hoddle spoke on talkSPORT this morning and looked ahead to Tottenham’s clash against Chelsea tonight.

The Tottenham legend has backed his old side to pick up a win over Chelsea after a brilliant start to the season under Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs remain unbeaten in the Premier League and will have the opportunity to move back above Manchester City with a win tonight.

Tottenham have been one of the most entertaining sides in the league so far but they have also impressed defensively.

Hoddle has put that down to their defensive trio of Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven. And the former Chelsea boss believes Van de Ven has been the pick of the bunch.

Hoddle says Van de Ven has ‘got everything’

Speaking to talkSPORT, Hoddle believes Van de Ven will be in with a shout for being in the Premier League Team of the Year should he avoid injuries.

“I tell you what, that triangle at the back there – the goalkeeper Vicario, Romero and Van de Ven,” Hoddle said.

“He [Van de Ven] will be in everyone’s Team of the Year at the end of the season if he doesn’t get injured, I’ve got to say. He’s got everything the boy.

“That little triangle there gives them the base to go and play.”

Van de Ven has deservedly earned plenty of plaudits during the early stages of his Spurs career.

The Dutchman made the switch to North London from Wolfsburg over the summer and has adjusted to Premier League football with ease.

His pace has been a huge asset for Spurs at the back as the young defender has helped Postecoglou’s men push higher up the pitch.

It’s hard to disagree with Hoddle’s comments and Van de Ven seems to have all the required assets to become an elite defender.

At just 22, the best is yet to come from the centre-back and he’s already struck up a promising partnership with Cristian Romero.
