Ledley King admits he loves 22-year-old Tottenham man, he makes players better around him

Tottenham Hotspur legend Ledley King has now been heavily praising the impact of Micky van de Ven since he arrived at the club.

King has been speaking in an extended interview with The Telegraph and was harping back on his own Tottenham career.

However, the centre-back did take time to hail the influence Micky van de Ven has already had in this Ange Postecoglou team.

King thought van de Ven was forming an excellent partnership with Cristian Romero at Tottenham and was exuding class.

He said: “He’s adapted his game this season and has a stable partner in [Micky] Van de Ven who has been exceptional.

“They are up there as a partnership.”

Of course, this Tottenham team will now have another big test when they host Chelsea on Monday night.

Mauricio Pochettino will certainly be wary of the reception that he will receive back in North London leading one of Spurs’ most bitter rivals.

But given how good Tottenham have been under Postecoglou, they are likely to just be focusing on themselves.

King thinks van de Ven has been brilliant at Tottenham thus far

Although van de Ven’s spot is undebatable in the back line, Postecoglou does now have one key decision to make in attack.

Brennan Johnson is said to be pushing for a start in place of Richarlison in Tottenham’s XI on Monday.

Johnson enjoyed a strong performance when starting in the North London Derby earlier this season and could now return for another feisty affair.

Tottenham will still be sweating on the fitness of Destiny Udogie for the game against Chelsea after Postecoglou confirmed he was a doubt.

But with or without the Italian, this Spurs side will be confident of their chances of winning.

And Ledley King will definitely point to the importance of van de Ven and Romero for Tottenham once again tomorrow.

Despite their inconsistent form, Chelsea have enjoyed some improvements in their attacking play of late.

And the duo will be crucial in curtailing the increasing influence Raheem Sterling is starting to have on games.
