Richarlison names 25-year-old Tottenham player as the toughest player he’s ever trained against

Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has now named Cristian Romero as the toughest player he’s trained against at the club.

Richarlison was answering a series of questions for the Premier League and paid the compliment to his Argentinian teammate.

Of course, there aren’t likely to be too many Spurs fans that are surprised by that answer.

Romero is an intimidating presence on the pitch, and he doesn’t seem like the kind of character who trains half-heartedly.

And given Richarlison plays in a similar vein, that would surely be a duel that a lot of Tottenham fans would enjoy watching.

Ange Postecoglou will still be without Romero for two further games after the international break given his indiscretion against Chelsea.

And it’s evident that the side are already struggling without his presence.

Micky van de Ven has proved to be the perfect foil for Romero, a player who did seem to be settling the Argentine down.

However, Romero simply lost his composure on a night when it was needed more than ever.

Of course, Richarlison is now being linked with a departure from Spurs in the near future.

Richarlison is reportedly attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, and might be targeted as Neymar’s replacement at Al-Hilal.

Should those reports be true, it would certainly be interesting to see how Tottenham responded to any interest.

Postecoglou has always backed Richarlison publicly, a player who he has been helping improve.

But a sizable bid may allow Postecoglou to reinvest those funds in a player more in his image.

Richarlison and Romero are both key players at Tottenham, but ones not chosen by Postecoglou.

And whilst Romero seems like a good fit, there are a few more doubts attached to the Brazilian.

One player who could fit Postecoglou’s style perfectly is Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson.

Spurs have now been linked with the forward, however it seems that a deal may now be difficult to complete.
