‘That is incredible’… Mohamed Elyounoussi reacts after what he’s heard about 32-year-old Celtic player

Mohamed Elyounoussi will always be remembered fondly by the Celtic fans for his part in bringing domestic success to the club during his loan spell from Southampton.

The 29-year-old Norwegian international was in Glasgow this week to take on Scotland and he scored an 86th-minute equaliser to deny Steve Clarke’s men a winning end to their impressive Euro 2024 campaign.

However, the Norwegian admitted he took the time to catch up with Callum McGregor and Greg Taylor after the 3-3 draw but admitted he was left blown away after hearing about an incredible feat that James Forrest reached this season with Celtic.

Elyounoussi said [The Herald], “It’s amazing he’s 32 now – I wish I had those genes!

“What a lad. He’s such a good guy, he’s very humble and it’s great to see he’s still going strong. I hope they will have a successful season ahead.

“I heard he’s scored in 15 seasons in a row. That is incredible and I don’t know if I will achieve that.

“He’s such a top professional I am not surprised he is continuing to do it. The only surprise is when people tell me his age – because he still looks so young!

“I still follow Celtic and it’s great to see them doing so well. I hope they have another successful season ahead.”

James Forrest is truly one of Celtic’s greatest players

It’s amazing to think that the legendary Celtic winger still splits opinions amongst the Hops fans. Especially after all that he’s achieved at the club.

Involved in every season of Celtic’s second nine in a row, Forrest has picked up an astounding 11 Scottish Premiership league titles, seven Scottish Cups and seven League Cups. [Transfermarkt]

He has also been involved in nine Champions League campaigns in which he has scored a total of nine goals and created six assists in both the group stages and qualifying. He has also scored over 100 goals and created over 100 assists over his career at Celtic.

On top of that, Forrest has 39 caps and five goals for Scotland spanning a senior career that has lasted since 2009.

Admittedly, his best days are behind him now but the 32-year-old once-club man is still playing an important role at the club where he is likely to end his illustrious career.
