Alan Shearer shares whether he thinks Everton will be relegated after their points deduction

Alan Shearer has now delivered his thoughts on whether Everton will be able to avoid the drop after Sean Dyche’s side were docked 10 points.

Shearer was speaking on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast and shared his view that Everton were in no danger before the points were removed.

And the pundit also delivered his opinion that the club would also have enough quality to stay up regardless of the deduction as well.

Shearer said: “Such is what I have seen in the last five or six weeks that I believe they would have definitely stayed up [without the points deduction] and even with this 10 points deficit I think they will stay up, I think they will have enough, yeah.”

Of course, Everton are now two points into the drop zone with Luton Town being the first side to target on six points.

Bournemouth are then three points ahead sitting on nine.

So whilst the task is a daunting one, it’s absolutely achievable for this Everton side given how well they’ve performed of late.

Sean Dyche recently shared his hope that any points deduction would actually galvanise his Everton team further.

And when Manchester United visit on Sunday, Goodison Park is bound to be rocking.

Alan Shearer thinks Everton can still avoid relegation after points deduction

Everton do now enjoy three home games in their next four Premier League ties, and a strong atmosphere at Goodison could now be crucial.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s readiness will also be paramount for Dyche’s side to quickly propel themselves up the table.

Many will have their own view on the sanctions that Everton have faced, but the club will now just have to focus on their performances on the pitch.

Gary Lineker thought the points deduction did set an interesting new precedent, and wondered who may face action next.

However, Dyche’s Everton simply have to dig themselves out of this hole with their results now.

And given the form of Jarrad Branthwaite, of Abdoulaye Doucoure, the side must believe that they can still get themselves safe.

Alan Shearer certainly believes that Everton do have the quality and players to survive this point deduction.

And if there wasn’t already a lot of attention on their game with Man United on Sunday, it’s now become one of the ties of the season.
