‘What I do like about him’…Micah Richards says he’s loves Liverpool player who ‘started to panic’ vs City

Micah Richards has shared what he really likes about Darwin Nunez after the Liverpool striker endured a tough first-half against Manchester City on Saturday.

Richards was speaking on Sky Sports (broadcast on 25/11; 13:20) after the Uruguayan passed up a brilliant opportunity to give the Reds the lead at the Etihad Stadium.

Darwin Nunez has definitely taken a step forward this season. He looks a lot more at home at Anfield. And he is proving to be much more prolific in terms of his goals and assists.

Ederson had to make a good early save from Nunez as the 24-year-old flicked on a Mohamed Salah cross. And it appeared that he was going to be tested by the striker again later in the half.

Dominik Szoboszlai played Nunez through on goal. However, he could not get the ball out of his feet and Manchester City were able to stop him in his tracks.

Gary Neville was critical of Nunez and suggested that that is where he needs to improve. And while Micah Richards did not defend the Liverpool star at half-time, he did suggest that he has the perfect attitude to bounce back.

“You talked about finishing before, and I thought maybe when he had that bad touch, could he have dug it out and showed a different finish? It’s almost like when he took that touch, he started to panic and think I’ve lost the ball here,” he told Sky Sports.

“Maybe he lost a little bit of confidence. But what I do like about him is he’s always on the move, he’s always alive. And if he carries on like that in the second-half, he’s going to get another opportunity.”

Liverpool star definitely on the right path

It would prove to be a quieter second-half for Nunez before he came off. But Richards is right that he does not give up or let things get to him.

And given the quality Liverpool have in attack, Nunez is always going to get chances.

He has now scored seven goals and contributed six assists in all competitions. And he is going to get many, many more over the course of the campaign.
