‘He is the best’… Micah Richards blown away by £67m Liverpool player

Micah Richards has given his verdict on Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker after watching him in action against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The former City defender was particularly impressed with a save that Alisson made during the match.

So, what has Micah Richards said about Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, Manchester City and Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw with each other at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.

Erling Haaland scored for defending champions City in the first half. Trent Alexander-Arnold restored parity for Liverpool in the second period.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson could have avoided conceding the goal had his kick aimed at Mohamed Salah been better.

The £67 million (Sky Sports) Brazil international goalkeeper, though, was very good on other occasions.

There was one particular save that really impressed former City star Micah Richards. It led to the Sky Sports pundit saying that Alisson is the best goalkeeper in one-v-one situations – even better than Ederson.

In the 79th minute, Jeremy Doku weaved his magic and got the ball to Haaland inside the box. The City striker turned it towards goals. It took a deflection off of Virgil van Dijk, but Alisson saved it.

Richards said about Alisson on Sky Sports Premier League (3 pm, November 25, 2023): “On one-on-one situations, he is the best, his positioning, his anticipation, just his all-round saving is magnificent.”

Liverpool and Brazil goalkeeper Alisson is world class

In my view, Liverpool and Brazil international goalkeeper Alisson is world class.

I think that Alisson is one of the best all-around goalkeepers on the planet.

We know that Alisson is very good with his feet. Goalkeepers are now expected to play out from the back, especially those at elite clubs.

What is also remarkable about the Liverpool star is that he is a very good shot-stopper and is brilliant in one-v-ones.

Alisson is a safe pair of hands when claiming crosses as well and exudes confidence whenever he is on the pitch.
