Wales media deliver verdict on Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies vs Armenia

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies was in action for Wales against Armenia in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Saturday.

The Welsh media has given its verdict on the performance of Davies during what was a disappointing day at the office for Wales.

So, what is being said about Tottenham Hotspur and Wales international defender Ben Davies? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies was in action for Wales against Armenia in European Championship Qualifying Group D on Saturday.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Davies started on the left of a back-three in a 3-4-3 formation.

It was a disappointing display from Wales as a team, but the £80,000-a-week (Spotrac) Davies did try his best at the back.

WalesOnline gave Davies 6 out of 10 and noted: “Made a couple of really good tackles to keep Armenia at bay. Did his best to rally the troops but sadly to no avail.”

The Tottenham defender had a pass accuracy of 88.1%, won two headers, took 78 touches, and made three tackles, two interceptions and two clearances.

Ben Davies an important player for Tottenham Hotspur and Wales

In my opinion, Ben Davies is an important player for Tottenham Hotspur and Wales.

Davies is 30 now and is at the top of his game. While he may not be getting regular time for Spurs, I believe that his importance to Tottenham cannot be undermined.

The Wales international is a left-back by trade, but he can play in a back-three. The 30-year-old has made two starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham this season.

During the 2022-23 season, Davies made 26 starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs. The defender scored two goals and gave two assists in those games.
