Celtic fans react as Anthony Ralston joins St Johnstone on loan

Celtic defender Anthony Ralston has secured a temporary exit on deadline day. On the final day of the Scottish transfer window, Ralston has joined St Johnstone on loan for the 2019/20 season.

St Johnstone announced the arrival of Ralston on their official website. It is the 20-year-old’s third loan spell away from Parkhead after previous stints with Queen’s Park and Dundee United.

Ralston will be hoping to add some Scottish Premiership games to his current tally of 10. He has played a total of 19 times for Celtic’s first-team and he picked up a combined total of 30 appearances during his two loan spells.

Neil Lennon clearly does not think the Scotland U21 right-back is ready for action yet. This summer, he has signed two new players in that position. Hatem Abd Elhamed and Moritz Bauer have both joined Celtic this summer, pushing Ralston down the pecking order.

Ralston might be even further cast aside if Jeremie Frimpong joins from Manchester City. The Scottish Sun reports that the Bhoys are interested in signing the Dutch teenager on a permanent deal today.

Here are some Celtic fans reacting to Ralston’s loan exit.
