‘That’s why’… Theo Walcott names the two current Arsenal players he just loves watching

Theo Walcott has named Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka as two Arsenal players he has loved to watch in recent months.

A new generation is upon us at the Emirates Stadium that is currently being led by the two wingers, with Martinelli and Saka both on the scoresheet last night for Arsenal in their 6-0 win against RC Lens.

Both aged 22, the north London side have two gems on their hands heading into the future, and speaking to Arsenal’s official website, Walcott was quick to praise the two forwards.

The former England international was, in his prime, one of the most feared wingers in the Premier League, and Walcott is now loving what he is seeing from Martinelli and Saka at Arsenal.

Walcott said: “It frustrates me still when I see wingers not using their pace. It’s your main weapon, exploit it. That’s why I love watching Martinelli and Saka now.

“Defenders hate you running at them. So that’s what I said to myself – affect the game and enjoy it. To be able to do that, it was special, and then I knew the manager would be able to trust me to make an impact in future, and I was still just 18. Things really developed for me after that, that’s for sure.”

Mikel Arteta is creating something quite special at Arsenal, and at the centre of the Basque manager’s plans is Martinelli and Saka, who are arguably the best wing pairing in world football right now.

The youngsters have been electric for the Gunners over the last 12 months, with Martinelli and Saka already in the ‘world-class’ conversation when it comes to wide-forwards in the game.

And the duo could soon make history for Arsenal, with the pair playing a key role in leading the Gunners to the top of the Premier League standings as well as their UEFA Champions League group.

Things have only just begun for Martinelli and Saka, and seeing where the two players will take Arsenal is an exciting prospect for any supporter.
