‘He’s a tremendous player’… Mikel Arteta says Arsenal have a 28-year-old player with ‘great talent’

Mikel Arteta has showered Arsenal in praise for signing Leandro Trossard earlier this year, with the forward being sensational for the Gunners.

The Belgian international was brought in during the January window after the Gunners missed out on Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea, with Trossard being signed for nearly a quarter of what the Ukrainian cost.

However, despite being older than the former Shakhtar Donetsk star, Trossard’s career at Arsenal has been quite remarkable, whilst Mudry at Chelsea has been yet another big-money disappointment.

The Belgian international already has seven goals and 12 assists for Arsenal since signing in January, and Trossard’s attacking versatility has given the north London side an extra edge this season.

And speaking to the press via Fabrizio Romano, Arteta was full of praise for Trossard, with the 28-year-old proving to be quite the bargain for the Gunners in January.

Arteta said: “I don’t know about the financial side, I’m not an economist at the club, but I really think he’s a tremendous player, he has great talent and especially great intelligence to play the way we want to play.”

Arsenal fans knew they were getting a good player in Trossard when the attacker signed from Brighton * Hove Albion earlier this year.

However, few would have expected the Belgian winger to be this good, and Trossard has a strong case of being one of Arsenal’s best bargains in recent memory.

Whilst William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli or Takehiro Tomiyasu might have a stronger claim to such a title, it’s hard to underestimate just how good Trossard has been for Arsenal.

The forward has scored and assisted crucial goals for the north London side already this season, and the best could be yet to come for Trossard in Arsenal colours.
