‘Top player’: Micky Van de Ven says he found ‘strong’ Man United is so hard to play against

Micky Van de Ven has made the Premier League look easy since joining Tottenham.

The Dutchman has barely broken a sweat since arriving at Spurs this summer, but, speaking on the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel, the defender has admitted that there is one player who has caused him big problems.

Indeed, Van de Ven says that in the home game against Manchester United back in August, he found it really difficult to deal with Marcus Rashford.

Spurs beat United 2-0 that day, but according to Van de Ven, that could’ve been a different story as he felt Rashford had the ability to change the game in an instant.

Van de Ven names Rashford as his toughest opponent

The Tottenham defender gave his verdict on the Manchester United attacker.

“To be honest, in the home game against Man United, Rashford for me is a top player,” Van de Ven said.

“Rashford for me is a real top class player. Man United aren’t doing that well in the league, but if you see the quality of Rashford, every second of the game he can do this and he can make the goal. He’s so strong with the ball and without the ball, for me, he is a top-class player,” Van de Ven said.

Didn’t show it

Van de Ven says that Rashford caused him all sorts of problems earlier this season, but thinking back to the game, it’s hard to say that we remember Rashford doing all that much in the game.

The entire United team seemed to be a bit stifled during that game, and Rashford didn’t have much of an impact.

Of course, Rashford is a fantastic player, so it’s not a surprise to hear that he has that fear factor, but Van de Ven did a fantastic job of dealing with the striker despite feeling like he had a tough afternoon.
