BBC pundit says 21-year-old Manchester United man ‘doesn’t have the composure’

Manchester United have thrown away another two-goal lead to draw at Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils let two leads slip to allow the hosts back into the game after errors from goalkeeper Andre Onana for two of those goals.

In addition, Man United substitute winger Facundo Pellistri spurned several opportunities to put Erik ten Hag’s side back into the lead.

The 21-year-old came on in the 78th minute for Alejandro Garnacho, who had opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the 11th minute.

At least two really good chances fell for Pellistri, but he didn’t make the most of them, while other attacks in which he had the ball didn’t come to fruition.

In the first minute of second-half injury time, Diogo Dalot’s cross across the face of goal looked to have put the Man Utd forward in, but Fernando Muslera was able to save.

Then, there was a scramble for the ball, with Lucas Torreira on the floor, and Muslera eventually threw his body over the ball.

BBC Sport pundit Stephen Warnock could barely believe that Pellistri wasn’t able to find the back of the net.

“How has he not scored? What an opportunity for Manchester United,” he said on Radio 5 Live, via the BBC Sport website.

“Pellistri doesn’t have the composure to put it into the empty net.”

Man United are now on the brink of elimination from the Champions League. They did a lot of things well against Gala, but mistakes in goal and in attack kept the Red Devils from claiming all three points.

Pellistri hasn’t been getting much game time at Man United this season, and he didn’t exactly make a great case for more starts in his cameo against Gala.

He’ll have to do much better next time Ten Hag selects him.
