Gary Lineker and Danny Murphy left stunned by ‘amazing’ 22-year-old Arsenal player vs Wolves

After another brilliant win, both Gary Lineker and Danny Murphy were immensely impressed with one Arsenal player against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The duo were speaking on the BBC’s Match of the Day following a 2-1 victory that saw Arsenal go four points clear at the top of the Premier League.

And when discussing some of Wolves’ troubles at the back, both Lineker and Murphy were stunned by one Arsenal man.

Murphy said: “Don’t leave runners to go get drawn towards the ball, that’s the first mistake.

“Then, [Jean-Ricner] Bellegarde, block or go with the runner, he lets Saka go.

“[Takehiro] Tomiyasu gives him the ball, and [Craig] Dawson makes a little error himself, can’t help his mate out and they’re a goal down.

“That is basic, that’s not that difficult to sort out.”

Lineker interjected: “Great play from Saka, though.”

Murphy replied: “Amazing play, we’ll come to that in a bit.”

It was clear that Wolves did attempt to double up on Saka yesterday, as many teams have this season.

However, the winger was supported brilliantly by Tomiyasu, and ruined Wolves’ game plan very early on.

Gary Lineker and Danny Murphy thought Bukayo Saka was brilliant for Arsenal

Much like Brentford attempted last weekend, Gary O’Neil clearly set up his Wolves side to stifle Arsenal on the wings.

Both Gabriel Martinelli and Saka were faced by two players every time they received the ball out wide.

And whilst some pundits have thought both have been out of form, their quieter performances have simply been born out of this new tendency.

Of course, Lens provided a frightening example of what can happen at the Emirates when you don’t heavily supervise the duo.

Bukayo Saka has been in scintillating form this season, he hasn’t been underwhelming by any means.

And the Arsenal winger does deserve this praise from Lineker and Murphy – Saka found space to move when there wasn’t any.

Part of Arsenal’s evolution under Mikel Arteta will be improving against sides who sit deep at the Emirates.

Manchester City are relentless in their approach to such games, and Arsenal do now need to build a familiarity to their home performances.

Arteta is bound to be very happy with how his side started yesterday, something that hasn’t always been the case this season.

However, the Spaniard was furious with one Arsenal player when he saw standards starting to drop late on.
