‘Injuries are killing him’: Pundit says Arsenal have an ‘outstanding’ attacker who’s being held back

Injuries can be so cruel in football, and Arsenal know that better than any other club.

The Gunners have seen the likes of Jurrien Timber and Emile Smith Rowe sidelined with fitness issues this season, while Gabriel Jesus is also out of action for a little while now.

Jesus has had a stop-start career so far at Arsenal, and it really feels as though he’s not been able to get into a real rhythm since his injury before the World Cup last year.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Clinton Morrison has been discussing Jesus and his fitness issues, and he says that injuries are killing Jesus at the moment, but he thinks he’s an outstanding footballer who should be starting all of the big games for Arsenal.

Injuries killing Jesus

Morrison gave his verdict on the forward.

“Eddie Nketiah scored a hat-trick against Sheffield United the other day which is brilliant, but when you have the big games, Jesus leads the line, Jesus is an outstanding footballer, injuries are killing him at the moment, but Nketiah is a good striker,” Morrison said.

Such a shame

It’s such a shame that Jesus has had these fitness problems, because he’s not been able to show his full abilities with the Gunners yet.

There’s all this talk about Arsenal needing a 20-goal a season striker, but let’s not forget, Jesus netted 11 goals in just 26 league appearances last term while not being the Gunners’ full-time penalty taker.

If he’d stayed fit and been on penalties, he probably would’ve hit that 20-goal mark, but sadly, his body failed him and he spent a large period of the season watching from the sidelines.

Morrison is right, Jesus is a wonderful player, and we can only hope that he’s able to stay fit from this point onwards.
