Arsenal think they have a 17-year-old youngster who can become the next Oleksandr Zinchenko

Arsenal coaches think Myles Lewis-Skelly can be developed to play the role Oleksandr Zinchenko does for Mikel Arteta’s first-team.

The Gunners’ Hale End Academy is one of the best in Europe. The talent Arsenal have been producing, especially in the last few years, is nothing short of extraordinary, and young Lewis-Skelly could prove to be the best of the bunch.

Arsenal think Myles Lewis-Skelly could become the next Oleksandr Zinchenko

Oleksandr Zinchenko is one of Arsenal’s most important players.

The Ukraine international plays as a left-back for Mikel Arteta‘s side, but his role requires him to tuck in and operate as a midfielder as well.

Zinchenko arguably plays that hybrid role better than anyone else in the world, and he was one of the biggest reasons why Arsenal did so well in the Premier League last season.

Now, the Gunners may have a younger version of Zinchenko in their academy in Myles Lewis Skelly.

The Evening Standard claims that the 17-year-old has drawn comparisons to Tottenham old-boy Mousa Dembele, but Arsenal may have a different role in mind for him.

It has been revealed that there is a belief at Arsenal that Lewis-Skelly ‘could replicate Oleksandr Zinchenko’s role at left-back’ in the coming years.

Arsenal coach Jack Wilshere has already addressed this

Myles Lewis-Skelly usually plays in midfield for Arsenal’s youth team, but he has occasionally been used as a left-back too.

Jack Wilshere was once asked if he sees Lewis-Skelly as a full-back, and the Arsenal U18s boss said no. However, he did highlight the role Oleksandr Zinchenko plays for the senior side.

He told The Athletic: “I don’t think he’ll be a left-back; he’ll be a midfielder. But if we give him a little bit of everything (it will help).

“It’s important for him. You look at our first team and the way football’s going with players like Oleksandr Zinchenko, the full-back has to be able to play inside.”
