Sol Campbell tells Arsenal to go and sign ‘world-class’ £100m player in January

Arsenal legend Sol Campbell has urged his old club to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the January transfer window.

The Gunners haven’t been great this season but they’re still just a point off the top of the Premier League table. That should give them huge confidence, and a new striker in January could give them the push they need to go all the way. Toney has been heavily linked.

Sol Campbell tells Arsenal to sign Ivan Toney

Almost every pundit in England has urged Arsenal to sign a new striker in January, and Ivan Toney‘s name has been in the headlines a lot.

The Englishman is currently serving a ban for breaching betting rules, but he will be allowed back in the middle of January. That makes him a really attractive option for interested clubs.

Toney is a proven commodity in the Premier League. He scored over 20 goals for Brentford last season, and you would assume that number would go up if he joined a bigger club.

Many feel Toney would be a great signing for Arsenal, and Campbell has now backed his old club to sign the Brentford man.

He told The Mirror: “In the end, they will have to decide by January, do they need a centre forward. 20 to 25 goals in the Premier League. You know, in those big, tight games. I think it will help them.”

When asked which striker he would like to see Arsenal sign, Campbell quickly said Victor Osimhen before admitting he would be very expensive.

Then, he said: “There’s Ivan [Toney]. I think they’re good [in other areas of the pitch]. Center forward is one thing they might need to look at and see the possibilities, see what’s out there, or wait until next season.

“But if the right person comes along, an out-and-out striker, that can unlock those tight games, knows what to do in those positions, and also keeps defence occupied to then free up other people, they should maybe look at it Christmas time – if not, definitely next season.”

Ivan Toney will cost a lot of money

Ivan Toney will definitely be a wanted man in January.

The Englishman, branded as a ‘world-class‘ forward by Ben Foster on his YouTube channel, is in the prime years of his career, and every big club who is in need of a striker will consider signing the 27-year-old in the winter window.

However, Toney will cost an absolute fortune in January. Sky Sports recently claimed that Brentford have slapped a £100 million price tag on their star striker.

We just can’t imagine Arsenal spending so much money in January after their heavy expenditure in the summer transfer window.
