Ange Postecoglou has no confidence in 27-year-old Tottenham player anymore

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has zero confidence in Giovani Lo Celso.

Spurs have had an amazing start to the new season. Almost every single player who has played has stepped up, but Lo Celso has missed most of the campaign due to an injury. He is back now, but if Estadio Deportivo are to be believed, Tottenham manager Postecoglou has lost all confidence in him.

Ange Postecoglou has no confidence in Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso

Tottenham signed Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis in the summer of 2019.

The midfielder moved to Spurs initially on a loan deal, but that was made permanent in the following year, taking the North London club’s total expenditure on him to £42.3 million (Standard).

Lo Celso has shown flashes of brilliance in a Tottenham shirt, but for one reason or another, he has never been able to nail down a regular starting spot.

The Argentine spent the 18 months before this season on loan at Villarreal, and he was expected by many to be sold in the summer.

However, much to many people’s surprise, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou decided to keep hold of him after a few impressive performances in pre-season. Now, it looks like that honeymoon period has come to an end.

Estadio Deportivo claim that Lo Celso ‘does not have the confidence’ of Postecoglou anymore after missing over a month of football due to injury.

The report claims there is likely to be interest in Lo Celso from Spain, with Real Betis and Barcelona linked with a move to sign him last summer. However, as things stand, there is nothing on that front.

Lo Celso still has time to impress Postecoglou

The January transfer window is still two full months away, which means there is still hope for Giovani Lo Celso to impress Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

The Argentine was in the Spurs squad in the first three Premier League games of the season before he got injured. He was named on the bench in Tottenham’s last three fixtures as well.

Postecoglou’s midfield is really strong at the moment, and there is no real need for Lo Celso, especially as a starter in the Premier League.

However, with the busy festive period coming up next month, we’re sure the 27-year-old will get some minutes on the pitch. Whether he makes good use of them, however, remains to be seen.
