Mikel Arteta says Arsenal have a truly ‘incredible’ and ‘intelligent’ £12m talent in their ranks

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Jorginho ahead of the Gunners hosting Sevilla in the Champions League.

The Gunners boss says Jorginho is an “incredible” and “very intelligent” player who “has the quality to make the team better”.

Arsenal will hope to get back to winning ways as they welcome the Spanish outfit to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Gunners have lost their last two matches in all competitions and will be eager to get back on track.

A win for Arsenal could ensure their progression to the knockout stages of the competition, if other results go their way.

At present, Arteta has some personnel issues to contend with. Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey are out, while Eddie Nketiah and Martin Odegaard are doubts.

With that in mind, we’re likely to see Jorginho make the Arsenal starting XI once again. If Odegaard is unavailable, he could take the captain’s armband again too.

On Tuesday, Arteta held his pre-match press conference, as transcribed by football.london.

When asked about what he has seen from Jorginho and his importance, the Arsenal boss said: “Well, hopefully, the same that all the managers that have played him.

“He is an incredible player, he is a leader, he is a very intelligent player for us, and he has the quality to make the team better, that’s it.”

Jorginho a great asset for Arsenal

Arsenal signed Jorginho for just £12million earlier this year, the veteran Italy international bolstering the Gunners ranks.

He has been a great addition at Arsenal. As well as his quality, Jorginho brings in a lot of experience and leadership, essential for a young Gunners squad.

Although Jorginho isn’t considered a regular starter at present, he’s good when called upon and, with squads being depleted by the rigours of a four-front campaign, he’s a great asset to have.
