‘Dream come true’… £6m Arsenal player so happy after what’s happened this international break

Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has now been celebrating scoring his first goal for Brazil against Colombia over the weekend.

Martinelli was speaking via Gazeta Esportiva and mentioned what an important moment it was for him and his family.

Of course, just a few years ago Martinelli was playing his football in Brazil’s lower divisions as an 18-year-old.

Fast forward to now, and the 22-year-old Arsenal player now has eight caps and one goal for his country.

Martinelli said his first goal was a dream come true, and shared that it was a big relief.

He said: “It was a dream come true. I have dreamed of this goal since I was little, it was very important for me and my family.

“It took a long time for the record to fall. After the game, it became real and it was a dream come true. I am very happy.”

Martinelli is now flying for Arsenal and Brazil, and it really does seem as if the sky’s the limit for the winger.

Although his goal came in a disappointing defeat, Martinelli will now hope to become a regular starter for his country.

Signing for £6m in 2019, Arsenal must now look back at that deal as the best in the club’s recent history.

It would now be difficult to put a figure on Martinelli’s worth, but it may even go beyond the £105m Arsenal paid for Declan Rice this summer, such is his quality.

Although, Arsenal fans won’t have to worry about any imminent departure.

Martinelli is a fixture of this Arsenal team, and he will now be hoping to be able to say the same for Brazil.

National media in Brazil were very impressed with Martinelli’s display against Colombia, and the winger must now be hoping for another start against Argentina.

The game takes place just after midnight on Wednesday, something that could prove an issue when returning to Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s team face Brentford on Saturday afternoon, which doesn’t allow an awful lot of time for recovery after extensive travel.
