‘So good’… Leandro Trossard seriously impressed by two Arsenal teammates in win over Sevilla

Leandro Trossard has now been praising his fellow Arsenal wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli after the win against Sevilla.

Trossard was speaking via Yahoo Sports after the game and was detailing Arsenal’s game plan to overcome some disappointing defeats of late.

The Belgian mentioned that Mikel Arteta had asked the Arsenal players to get the ball to the wingers as quickly as possible.

And given how well all of Trossard, Saka and Martinelli played, Arteta’s plan worked well for Arsenal.

When asked about avoiding a third defeat in a row, Trossard said: “We are never worried because we know our quality and we knew we had to bounce back.

“I think that made us start the game so well with a lot of aggressiveness and when the goal came it was a relief for us. Then from that moment we controlled the game.

“We are always confident, we want to win every game and that’s how we approach them, we will try and win the next two games as well.

“The manager just wanted us to attack when we had the ball, to get the ball to the wingers.

“Bukayo and Gabi [Martinelli] are so good one-vs-one – then you see you can create a lot of chances. We did it so well.”

Trossard thrived in a central role between Saka and Martinelli for Arsenal

Of course, Leandro Trossard didn’t exactly disappoint with his own performance.

Eddie Nketiah missed the game owing to a knock, and Trossard was given the nod by Arteta to start centrally.

And the decision proved to be an effective one.

Despite many calling for Kai Havertz to play as a striker for Arsenal once again, Trossard proved perfect foil to get the best from Saka and Martinelli.

And Arteta now seems very unlikely to change his attack when Burnley visit on Saturday.

Moreover, had Trossard not suffered an untimely injury in the last month or so, he may have already won a spot in the team.

The Belgian was arguably Arsenal’s best performer during pre-season but wasn’t in the starting XI when the league campaign began.

Therefore, Trossard may not see the next few games as his chance to claim a permanent spot.

Another player who should have secured their starting role last night was Jorginho.

The Italian impressed in the pivot, and Rio Ferdinand couldn’t quite believe some of the passes he was pulling off.
