Report: West Ham are now seriously thinking about bidding for ‘priceless’ England international, he wants out

West Ham United want to sign Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and are weighing up a bid, as per the Mirror.

They report that the Hammers are considering paying £10 million to sign the England international before the end of the transfer window.

The report says that Jurgen Klopp is determined to keep Oxlade-Chamberlain beyond this summer, despite the fact he has just one year remaining on his Anfield contract.

He wants to keep the depth and quality of the squad high, even if that means losing the player for nothing this time next year.

West Ham want Oxlade-Chamberlain

One potential issue could be the injury that Chamberlain has picked up in pre-season, during the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

His fitness has been an issue throughout his career and the latest setback may make West Ham think again as they look to bolster their midfield ranks.

But he does have quality and could be a real asset if he can get fit enough to play regularly, with an eye on an England return too.

Chamberlain has been described as ‘priceless‘ by Paul Merson because of his versatility but the player himself apparently fears he will be priced out of a summer exit.

It was reported in May that he wants to leave Anfield this summer but fears he will not be able to because of the valuation Liverpool have put on him.

And it seems they want to hold onto him, especially with time running out to find a replacement, but that might be tested if West Ham make the bid they are apparently weighing up.
