18-year-old Spurs starlet nets winner for his country as N17 insiders think he’ll explode soon

Tottenham Hotspur talent Jamie Donley is once again in the news for his footballing heroics.

The 18-year-old has been making waves in the Tottenham academy and has been tipped as a future star for Spurs.

Donley‘s stats this season make for staggering reading. He has six goals and 11 assists from 11 games at Under-21 level for Tottenham.

His efforts have helped Spurs U21s go top of the Premier League 2 table, with eight wins from eight.

Now, Donley has become the hero for his nation, scoring a late winner for England Under-19s against Japan after coming off the bench.

In the 90th minute, the Tottenham attacker was on hand to net with a close-range finish from inside the six-yard box to seal a 3-2 win in Marbella.

Donley’s dramatic late winner gave England’s U19s a second victory from two games in southern Spain. The Young Lions beat Romania 6-0 earlier in the week.

Spurs teammate Will Lankshear had also got on the scoresheet for his nation, and all five of Tottenham’s players in the England U19s setup played in the match.

Goalkeeper Luca Gunter played the whole game while Alfie Dorrington and Lankshear also started. The latter came off in the 63rd minute.

Meanwhile, Dorrington was replaced by fellow centre-half Ashley Phillips in the 76th minute, with Donley also coming on at that time.

‘Lift off this season’?

Tottenham have had plenty of top talents in recent years – Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Oliver Skipp and so on – and that’s certainly the case today as well.

Donley looks like a cut above for sure. Dean Jones previously told GiveMeSport that Tottenham insiders think he’ll break into the first-team in the coming months.

“It’s early days but sources around Spurs believe there is a genuine chance he gets lift off this season,” he said.

“It might not be too long until there’s a new chant around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: ‘Jamie Donley, he’s one of our own!’”
