‘How fast you are’: Pedro Porro says 22-year-old Tottenham player is absolutely rapid

Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro appears to have been impressed by the pace of Bryan Gil in training yesterday.

Spurs were hard at work at Hotspur Way ahead of their big London derby against Chelsea on Monday. Mauricio Pochettino will return to Tottenham for the first time since leaving the club, and it will be an interesting watch. Gil could have a part to play in that game.

Tottenham’s Pedro Porro thinks Bryan Gil is absolutely rapid

Tottenham signed Bryan Gil from Sevilla in a player-plus-cash swap deal back in the summer of 2021.

The Spaniard was viewed by everyone as a massive talent at the time, but neither Nuno Espirito Santo nor Antonio Conte fancied him.

Gil has started just 12 games in all competitions for Tottenham since he joined them. He has been sent out on loan twice, and there was a big chance that it would happen again in the summer as well.

However, an injury that required surgery forced Spurs to keep hold of him, and he has now returned to full fitness. He even played a minute last week against Crystal Palace.

In training yesterday, Gil was seen giving Pedro Porro a hard time. The picture on both of their Instagram Stories suggests the 22-year-old was breezing past his compatriot on the wing. Porro can even be seen pulling Gil’s top to slow him down.

The defender wrote in his Instagram Story, “How fast you are, my lefty,” suggesting that Gil is absolutely rapid.

Gil could become a star under Ange Postecoglou

The problem Bryan Gil has had at Tottenham is that neither of his first two managers’ systems suited him.

Now, under Ange Postecoglou, the £40,000-a-week (Spotrac) attacker finally has a boss who will give him the freedom he needs to show his qualities in attack.

That could bring the best out of Gil at Spurs, and we really won’t be surprised if he begins to get minutes in the coming weeks and months.

Tottenham take on Chelsea on Monday, and it will be interesting to see if Gil will get some game time against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
