Son Heung-min so impressed with ‘unbelievable’ £45m Tottenham player against City today

After deservedly earning a draw against Manchester City today, Son Heung-min was so impressed by one of his Tottenham Hotspur teammates.

Son was speaking to Sky Sports immediately after the game alongside Dejan Kulusevski.

And although the Spurs captain was ‘very proud’ of the Swede for this late goal, he reserved special praise for another winger.

Son was deeply impressed by the assist provided by Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson against City, a player he deeply praised.

The captain said: “2-2, last ten minutes, when you concede at 3-2 here I think everybody is going to give up so, but I think we didn’t give up until the last whistle.

“I mean, brilliant work from Brennan, the cross was unbelievable inside the box and obviously Deki doesn’t score headers normally but I’m very, very proud of him.

“I think this point will bring us so much for the season, a huge, huge point for the team and for the players.”

Of course, Son also alludes to the amount of momentum in which Spurs will pick up from their late rally.

It’s been a testing few weeks for Ange Postecoglou, ones that have already proved a lot about his Tottenham project.

Although faced with so much bad luck, the new Spurs boss has simply refused to budge on his philosophy.

Despite missing the most crucial members of their spine, Tottenham didn’t sit deep against City, and Son was right to praise Johnson.

Although just getting started, Johnson typifies the belief and determination of this new Spurs team.

Signing for £45m in the summer, the winger looks an astute addition, one that perfectly embodies this new era.

And with an extended run in the side now likely, Johnson could be hard to displace in a few months time.

A front three of Kulusevski, Son and Johnson looks full of goals, and three at the Etihad is case and point.

It wasn’t all plain sailing, one Tottenham player did struggle with his passing as Jamie Carragher pointed out.

But on the whole it was a very positive evening, one needed heading into a busy festive period.
