Dion Dublin not impressed by 28-year-old Tottenham midfielder vs Wolves

Dion Dublin has singled out Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for not doing as much as he could have to stop Wolves from scoring a later winner against Tottenham.

Speaking on Optus Sport, the pundit was critical of the 28-year-old midfielder, with Dublin claiming that Hojbjerg could have done more to stop Mario Lemina from getting off his 97th-minute winner.

Spurs’ loss coupled with wins for Arsenal and Tottenham saw the north London side drop down to fourth in the Premier League standings having led the table for most of the season.

Indeed, Hojbjerg knows he should have done better to stop Lemina from securing the win for Wolves, and Dublin has voiced his criticisms on how the midfielder reacted to the goal.

Dublin said: “The ball is kind of running away from him [Lemina], so you’ve got to strike it just at the right time, he just gets the right angle.

“I thought Hojbjerg could have done better to be fair because he was in his eye line, lets him go, poor defending for me, great finish.”

Tottenham have been knocked for six in recent days after back-to-back Premier League losses, and Hojbjerg will have to take onboard some key lessons heading into future fixtures.

The midfielder is fully aware that he should have done better for Lemina’s dramatic winner on Saturday, with Hojbjerg a player who knows how to respond to a bad performance.

Indeed, a big response is needed at Tottenham after the international break, and Hojbjerg could be key to such a comeback if Ange Postecoglou chooses to turn to the Danish midfielder again.
