Fabrizio Romano says West Ham really like ‘very complete’ £40m striker

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on West Ham United’s interest in Dominic Solanke.

The transfer insider, writing on CaughtOffside, says the Hammers are big fans of the Bournemouth ace.

However, West Ham still haven’t made a decision about moving for Solanke as it’s “still early”.

Speculation linking the Hammers and the 26-year-old is intensifying ahead of the January transfer window.

For instance, The Mirror recently reported that the Hammers are ready to make another approach for Solanke.

This is after West Ham reportedly fell short in pursuit of the striker in the summer with a £40million bid.

West Ham manager David Moyes is apparently eager to bolster his attacking ranks after failing to replace Gianluca Scamacca following his move to Atalanta.

Meanwhile, Hammers forward Danny Ings could also potentially depart in January if a suitable offer arrives, according to The Mirror.

‘Appreciated by the London club’

Solanke is in good form at present. He has netted six goals in 12 Premier League outings for the Cherries this term.

This tally includes an impressive brace in the 2-0 triumph over Newcastle just before the international break.

“Following rumours that Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke could replace Danny Ings at West Ham, I can say that Solanke is appreciated by the London club,” said Romano.

“He’s one of the players they like but no decision has been made yet as it is still early. I have no information about the future of Ings.”

West Ham in pursuit of ‘very complete’ striker in Dominic Solanke

Solanke is certainly a great player and it makes sense that West Ham are targeting him. However, the Hammers may have missed the boat for him.

He only penned a new contract in September, which runs until the summer of 2027. The Cherries’ hand is very strong at present, and the player doesn’t seem in any rush to leave.

“Obviously I think he’s really happy here,” Andoni Iraola told the Bournemouth Echo on Thursday.

“He has shown it also, renewing his contract not so much time ago. So I think it’s really nice for us.”

Iraola also sung the striker’s praises, adding: “The feeling I’ve had with him since day one I was here has been very, very good. He has a lot of different skills.

“He can adapt to different ways of playing and he’s very complete to be a number nine.

“Probably we talk more about him when he scores the goals, but his performances have been more or less the same level from the first day of the season.”
