‘Isn’t as bad’… £7m West Ham player’s injury is not as serious as first feared

West Ham have a bit of a potential injury crisis on their hands at the moment.

Mohammed Kudus went down injured for Ghana a few days ago, Jarrod Bowen seems to have picked up an issue with his knee, while Michail Antonio remains out of action with his own injury issues.

It could very easily be panic stations at the London Stadium right now. However, according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Chasing Green Arrows Podcast, the Hammers’ injury problems may not be that bad.

Jones says that West Ham haven’t heard about Kudus yet, while Bowen does have a knee problem. However, at the same time, he noted that Michail Antonio’s injury isn’t as bad as many originally suggested, but he is out of action for this weekend.

Antonio injury not that bad

Jones shared what he knows about the £7m man.

“I’m just waiting for a message on that Kudus one. So yeah, he’s said that the Kudus one is pretty clouded because the club haven’t had a report back from Ghana about how bad that one is. With Jarrod Bowen there is a problem on the knee and they have to determine how bad it is, and Antonio isn’t as bad as they first said, but he is obviously out,” Jones said.

Boost

This is great news for West Ham.

The Hammers could’ve been in real trouble in terms of attacking options if these three injuries were all serious, but, by the sounds of it, these won’t be long-term issues that plague David Moyes’ side for the next few months.

West Ham certainly need to improve in the league, and navigating this injury minefield is the first step towards getting their season back on track.
