Report: Leeds United see 20-year-old youngster as ‘the future’ in his position at the club

Leeds United see Charlie Cresswell as ‘the future’ in his position at the club, according to the Athletic

Cresswell is currently on loan at Championship outfit Millwall and has put in some impressive displays.

The 20-year-old has scored three goals in eight appearances from centre-back, while also providing an assist.

And it seems that people at Leeds have high hopes for the English defender.

Leeds see Cresswell as ‘the future’ in his position

The Athletic reports that Leeds see Cresswell as the future centre-back for the club

The Whites are hoping that his spell at Millwall will harden him to compete for a position in Jesse Marsch’s side.

And there are even hopes that a season with the Lions in the Championship will ‘complete his apprenticeship’ for Premier League football.

The England U21 international made five appearances in the Premier League for Leeds last season.

Cresswell has also made two appearances for the Whites in the League Cup but playing regular first-team football for Millwall will only benefit the youngster.

Leeds clearly have high hopes for their academy product and he looks to have a big future ahead of him.

Marsch is known for giving younger players a chance and has built a promising side over the summer.

The American boss has brought in young, exciting talents such as Brenden Aaronson and Luis Sinisterra. And the former Leipzig man has shown he is not afraid to give these younger players a run in the side.

Cresswell will be hoping he can build on his promising start at Millwall before rejoining Marsch’s side next summer.
